D21 - REVIEW ~ The Art Spot, LLC (Fort Morgan, CO)

MAKING MEMORIES . . . AND ART TOO!

The Art Spot, LLC is a quaint Art Studio located in Fort Morgan, Colorado.  Launched by the great owner Darlene Segelke Ruyle and assisted by local artist Maria Cisnowski, they have launched a unique and well-loved business that provides so much more then just an art project.  Their mission statement on their web page says it all.

The Art Spot is a happy creative place where you can have fun with art and connect with friends, family, co-workers, or team members. We'll share our passion for all things creative and in the end you'll go home with a finished piece of artwork and a warm heart.

I personally have had the opportunity of attending multiple classes with them in a community event setting but my personal favorite has been the last couple where I've had the opportunity to do them with family.  There is so much more to that experience then just painting on a canvas or other medium, it's the camaraderie, the silliness, the nervousness, and ultimately that support amongst classmates who are mostly all there as people who believe they have no artistic ability yet manage to create a personal masterpiece. For me it's a time to just relax and enjoy a slower pace of life doing something that's just fun. How many of us don't take time and our busy lives every once in awhile to "just have fun".  The opportunity I just had with my kids Mitch, Michelle, Courtney, and Brad creating "Patriotic Outdoor Signs" turned into a chance for each person to put their own spin on what they wanted their sign to look like.  And that's truly the beauty of this class and this studio is that there is no right or wrong way to create art. They merely give you the supplies, the basic ideas, and then a big nudge to just create.

The Art Spot offers such a broad range of classes multiple times a month at very convenient times for those people who work.  They have a wide selection of projects such as a series on gnomes, a series with an old truck, seasonal tree paintings, fun yet silly characters, and so much more. They have started branching out into painting on items such as fabric bags and wine glasses.  Don't want to go to a class with strangers? Problem solved, they can do a private class for individual groups with enough people and allow you to select the project that you want to work on together.  All of this at prices you just can't beat.

I personally want to say a huge thank you Darlene and Maria for helping create some memories for me and my family before my husband and I make our big move away.  As I make trips back to the area after our move this will definitely be one of the things on the to-do list with my kids.  This is what quality time is really all about. (Insert tears here 😭)

D3 - Live Each Day

(wallpaperaccess.com)

I dedicate this blog in loving memory of Buffy Velasquez.

2/15/68 - 5/30/21

Fly high my fellow falcon and watch over all you loved.

I find myself tonight with a heavy heart. Earlier today I found out that a classmate of mine passed away at the age of 53 from complications that came on after she contracted COVID-19.  Her and her husband, also a classmate, have been married for 38 years.  They were an example to many of the ultimate love story.  Their dedication to each other and to their family spoke volumes.  When I read the post that William put up this morning what impacted me the most was when he talked about the fact that even during 2020, that they had spent an amazing year camping, boating, and spending time with good company. He said these were all the things she loved the most.

Isn't that what it's really about? Spending time with people and making memories!  From the time we are born our days are numbered and it isn't for us to know how many they are.  Each day is a gift for us to cherish and do with as we choose. If we knew it was our last, would we choose to live that day differently? I believe we would.   I would like to believe we would make decisions to be loving and kind.  That we would appreciate the little things and that we would make sure that those who matter and have an impact on us knew how we feel about them.

With that being said and the fact that we never know when our time will come, isn't that reason enough to live each day secure in the fact that we have no regrets.  I challenge you to start each day remembering those things and those people that you're grateful for before you head into the business of life. Remember to always say I love you and to never let the sun go down with anger in your heart. Live each day as though it may be your last.

Rest In Peace Buffy! Your spirit will live on with those whose lives you touched during your time here.  May you be an ANGEL around the throne in heaven tonight.
